The Endeavour Life Care World Billiards Championship starts on Tuesday 8th October and culminates in the final on Saturday 12th October.

The World Women’s Billiards Championship, being held for the first time in Australia, runs on Friday 11th October.

Tournament cash policy

All members please note that the VBSA is acting in best prudential practices of handling your money.

The preferred method of payment for VBSA run tournaments is online via the VBSA shop at http://www.vbsa.org.au/vbsa_shop/shop_cart.php

What's changed?

In August 2019 the board ratified the following payment policy when entering events VBSA run tournaments

  1. Cash payments will not be accepted
  2. Cheques will not be accepted

When does this take effect?

This was implemented immiately with unconditional application of this rule in place by 31st December 2019.

What do I need to do?

The Board asks that should you wish to enter a VBSA associated tournament or event that you make arrangements to purchase your entry via either

For people without access to the internet please enlist the help of a friend or relative to pay & process your entry for you.

All entry forms will indicate this change and already include VBSA banking details.

Only paid entries can be processed to the draw. Unpaid entries will not be added to the draw after the closing date under any circumstances after 31st December 2019

This message was emailed and sent via SMS to all members for their notification and action.

Return to Play - Season 2
To all VBSA members.

Team entries close tomorrow, Sunday 5th July and, to date, numbers have been poor.

Whilst this is not unexpected due to the COVID-19 situation, the VBSA Board is making every effort to retrieve a semblance of a Pennant Season and is therefore encouraging all players & teams to submit their teams NOW in the hope that a mid July start can be achieved.

If this proves not possible, then alternatives will be considered over the coming weeks.  Alternatives might be, but are not limited to, a shortened season, mini tournaments or total abandonment of the season.

Mark Dunn, Scores Registrar.

Return to Play - Season 2
The following is subject to change with little notice dependent on the changing situation and the availability of venues.

The VBSA Board has decided, in conjunction with Sports & Recreation Victoria, the ABSC and relevant health authorities, to commence the Season 2 Pennant competition on Monday 20th July, 2020.  Season 1 has been abandoned with no team and individual awards to be made.  Pennant registration fees for the first 3 rounds of Season 1 will not be charged.

Note that all grades have been set at 4-man teams and that the provision of supper, including post match drinks, is banned to avoid compromising social distancing measures.

All members, team organisers & club managers are asked to start organising teams for entry into Season 2.  Team Entry can be made online by clicking on this LINK or click on the blue panel "Membership & Team Registration Forms" on the left of this page

Your attention is drawn to the Mandatory requirement for players, teams and Clubs to adhere to Federal/State Government guidelines, as well as those imposed by the VBSA with guidance by the ABSC.  Details of these are available in below post.  All Team Entries require sign off of your agreement to these requirements.  Player, team and Club expulsion for non-adherence, as well as government fines, will be the responsibility of the Clubs.

Clearly, the major issue will be the availability of venues to conduct competition.  It is hoped that the proposed relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions on 20th July will mean that sufficient venues are available.  Should the COVID-19 restrictions be reinstated resulting in venues not being available and indoor recreation again being banned, then the season start date will need to be postponed with a resulting shortening of the season.  Of course, some venues may not be available till later in the year irrespective of the relaxation of restrictions.  Bottom line is that nothing is “set in stone” but the Board will be making every effort to maximise the opportunity that now presents itself.

Pennant specific queries should be directed to Score Registrar, Mark Dunn

COVID-19 or policy specific queries should be directed to the VBSA Secretary, David Chigwidden

Chris Christofi & Vinnies CEO SleepOut

Please view this Youtube clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG_arEa3BKU&t=1s

Chris Christofi is about to participate in his third Vinnies CEO SleepOut and has committed to raising $80,000.00 to help those in need. Reventon will also show support by donating 75 cents for every dollar that he raises.

This year Vinnie's asked for all the CEO's to participate virtually by sleeping in their backyard, in their car or on their couch.

Chris has decided to sleep out on the streets of Melbourne for two nights at the end of June with his wife Billie.

Times are tough at the moment but together we can make a difference and change the lives of many.

$20 will help feed 1 person while $55 will help feed a family for a day.

No donation is too small, if our whole network were able to give up one coffee a week and donate the money instead, we would be able to hit our target and help those who need it most.

To make a donation please click on the link below.

If you would like to see Chris' experience sleeping out on the coldest nights of the year, please follow him on social media @ChrisChristofi

There are many ways you can help - by making a donation, sharing this post with your network or by doing both. Chris appreciates everyone’s help in spreading the message.

ANZAC Day 2020

With all the trouble and incovenience we face today with COVID-19, let us not forget the significance of today, ANZAC Day, and place our problems in perspective.

There will be very few VBSA members whose parents, grandparents, even immediate family, have not been impacted by the various conflicts Australia has been involved in.

Let us all pause to remember their sacrifice, commitment & dedication.

LEST WE FORGET.

PS.  And while on the subject, our thoughts are with the families of the 4 Victoria Police members who lost their lives so tragically this week. Vale.
