Empowering Women Report
What a beautiful fun day!

Empowering Women Snooker Invitational 2026 — the first event of its kind in Victoria — was an absolute success!

With eight fantastic players, plenty of smiles, and great competition, the day had the perfect mix of social and serious snooker.

Round robin was pretty tough and very close; after the matches and tight semi-finals
  • Suzanne Allan took out the final 2–1 over Karen Guv Winter
  • Karen also smashed in the highest break of 31 for the tournament

Congratulations to you both, you played great the whole day!

Thanks
Thank you to The Phone Shop Ballarat, and Arcadia Whisky Lounge for their support — and for the awesome personalised gift bags & gift vouchers.
And to the Cheltenham Billiards and snooker club for the superb conditions and their hospitality as always, providing lunch for our players, officials and spectators.

Big thanks to our referee Larry Eforgan for his continuous support and hard work.

Also a thankyou to the ones who came and supported, it was lovely having you!

We also had some fun prize giveaways making it a brilliant day all around, excellent preparation ahead of our upcoming new women’s Snooker State Minors event.

The players also received a small snooker self tracking training manual which is available for a free download along with our full TD report below.

Beautiful group of players, great vibes, awesome snooker, and a huge step forward for the women’s game in Victoria!

Join our referee team
Are you a Snooker or Billiards player and is your involvement dependent upon a place in a pennant team, or even just as a very interested spectator?

Do you ever wish you could get closer to the action when the century break players are at the table so as to pick up a couple of pointers, or just to get a really good view of the skills on show?

Do you wish to know the rules a little better and has the thought that knowing them whilst an opponent is a little more ignorant of them may be a way to gain a small, or even a big advantage?

A career as a referee for either or both disciplines may be the way!

The brother/sisterhood of the Victorian referees is one that you may consider joining. It is a group where all the members are jealous of the reputation it holds and will do everything to grow and enhance it. You will benefit from all the collective knowledge and be nurtured at every stage
during your early steps into a new and rewarding career.

Referee courses are now available and will consist of three Keynote presentations for Snooker outlining all the rules, with diagrams, explanations and animations for all of them. These seminars will take place over three consecutive weeks and will include a practical seminar on the fourth
week.

Billiards is not neglected and courses for that discipline cover just two in consecutive weeks followed by the exam in the third.

Accreditation will allow you to adjudicate in any and all matches Australia wide and some overseas matches and to receive the fees allocated to each of them. You will gain the respect of the Australian Billiards and Snooker community and of the wider community in general and
possibly and most importantly, your immediate circle of family and friends.

If you have any interest please contact me for further details.
